BREAKING: 🚨 HISTORY BENEATH RAMAT GAN: LOST 1,300-YEAR-OLD COMMERCIAL CENTER UNEARTHED 🇮🇱

A Remarkable Archaeological Discovery in Ramat Gan Excavations conducted by the Israel Antiquities Authority near the Winter Stadium have unearthed a complex approximately 1,300 years old, dating back to the Umayyad and Abbasid periods. Organized streets, shops or warehouses, ovens, and industrial installations bear witness to a significant commercial and artisanal center, strategically located along the axis connecting Jaffa, Ramla, and Jerusalem. The archaeologists have also uncovered pottery, oil lamps, bronze objects, iron tools, and dozens of coins. The site would have been occupied for nearly 150 years, then again in the 10th century before its final abandonment.

BREAKING VIDEO: NYC MAYOR MAMDANI: ‘NETANYAHU IS NOT WELCOME IN NYC’

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is drawing sharp criticism after releasing a video in which he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a “war criminal” and said he is “not welcome in New York City.” In the video, Mamdani said he supports the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Netanyahu and called on the U.S. government to enforce it if the Israeli leader visits the United States. He acknowledged that New York City itself does not have the legal authority to make such an arrest. The remarks immediately sparked backlash from many pro-Israel leaders and supporters, who say Mamdani’s comments further strain his relationship with New York’s large Jewish community. Supporters of Mamdani argue that his criticism is directed at the Israeli government’s conduct in Gaza and reflects his views on international law.

BREAKING:AIR QUALITY PLUMMETS AS WILDFIRE SMOKE SPREADS

Smoke from ongoing wildfires has led to a sharp decline in air quality across parts of the region, prompting health officials to urge residents to limit outdoor activity. The smoke contains fine particles that can travel long distances and pose health risks, especially for children, older adults, pregnant women, and people with asthma, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions. Officials recommend staying indoors with windows closed when possible, using air conditioning or air purifiers if available, and reducing strenuous outdoor exercise until air quality improves. Anyone experiencing difficulty breathing, chest pain, or worsening respiratory symptoms should seek medical attention. Air quality conditions can change quickly depending on wind patterns and the progress of wildfire containment efforts. Residents are encouraged to monitor local air quality updates and follow guidance from public health officials.

BREAKING VIDEO:TRUMP’S PROMISE KEPT: IRANIAN PORT BOMBED

Tensions in the Middle East escalated dramatically after explosions were reported near Iran’s Chabahar Port, just hours after President Donald Trump vowed that the United States would respond forcefully to Iran’s recent attacks. Videos circulating on social media appear to show the aftermath of the reported strikes, though the source of the explosions and the full extent of the damage have not yet been officially confirmed. Iranian authorities have not yet released complete details on casualties or damage to the port. The reported attack comes amid a rapidly escalating confrontation between the United States and Iran, following Iranian attacks on commercial shipping and U.S. military facilities in the region. President Trump had warned that any further aggression would be met with a decisive response. If confirmed, the strike would mark another significant escalation in the conflict and could have major implications for regional security and global shipping, as Chabahar is one of Iran’s key ports on the Gulf of Oman.

THIS TISHA B’AV, LET OUR TEARS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

As we sit on the floor this Tisha B’Av and tears begin to roll down our faces over the destruction of the Beis Hamikdash, let’s remember that there are countless Jews who don’t have to wait until Tisha B’Av to cry. They cry every single night. Some cry themselves to sleep because of illness. Some because of loneliness. Some because of a broken marriage. Some because they cannot find their shidduch. Some because they don’t know how they will pay tomorrow’s bills. Some because they are battling depression, trauma, addiction, or fears that no one around them even knows exist. This Tisha B’Av, let’s cry not only for what we lost over 2,000 years ago, but also for the pain our brothers and sisters are carrying today. Let’s cry for: * Every Jew waiting for a refuah sheleimah, physically or mentally. * Every husband and wife struggling to keep their marriage together. * Every parent overwhelmed raising children and every child who feels misunderstood. * Every young man and woman waiting for their shidduch. * Every family drowning under the weight of tuition, rent, mortgages, medical bills, and debt. * Every Jew carrying trauma, anxiety, depression, or emotional pain in silence. * Every person fighting addiction behind closed doors. * Every widow, orphan, and bereaved family. * Every Jew who feels forgotten, lonely, or believes nobody cares. * Every Jew searching for parnassah or wondering how they will feed their family. * Every wounded soldier and every holy soldier standing on the front lines protecting Am Yisrael. * Our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land who are fighting against the Supreme Court and those trying to stop Torah in the Holy Land. * Every family in Eretz Yisrael living under the constant threat of rockets and terrorism. * Every Jew facing antisemitism simply because they are Jewish. * Every Jew in the Diaspora yearning to return to our true home in Eretz Yisrael. * Every Jew who has drifted away from Torah and mitzvos, that they should return to Hashem. And then let’s ask ourselves one question: When Tisha B’Av ends, will our tears end too? Will we continue to notice the lonely person in shul? The struggling family? The person who is always smiling but is quietly falling apart? Will we stop embarrassing people? Will we stop speaking lashon hara? Will we judge others more favorably? Will we make a phone call, give tzedakah, offer a job, visit someone who is sick, invite someone for Shabbos, or simply tell another Jew, “I’m here for you”? The Beis Hamikdash was destroyed because of sinas chinam. It will be rebuilt through ahavas Yisrael. If every Jew leaves Tisha B’Av committed to easing the pain of just one other Jew, then perhaps Hashem will say, “My children have finally learned to care for one another.” May this be the last Tisha B’Av we observe in mourning. May Hashem wipe away every tear, heal every broken heart, protect every soldier, comfort every mourner, strengthen those who are struggling, and gather all of Am Yisrael together in the rebuilt Beis Hamikdash with the coming of Mashiach במהרה בימינו. Amen.

WEATHER TUESDAY 7/21: SEVERE STORMS TARGET TRI-STATE; DAMAGING WINDS, TORNADOES POSSIBLE

SEVERE WEATHER RETURNS TO THE TRI-STATE Here we go again! Another batch of strong and severe storms will target the region today An active weather pattern is setting up for Tuesday as a cold front approaches and a warm, humid air mass surges into the area. Dew points in the upper 60s to low 70s will fuel moderate to strong instability, while strong winds aloft will provide plenty of wind shear for organized severe thunderstorms. Main Takeaways:🌩️ A widespread severe weather threat is expected Tuesday into Tuesday evening. 💨 Damaging winds are the primary concern, with the potential for wind gusts over 65 mph. 🌪️ A few tornadoes are possible if discrete supercell thunderstorms develop (esp west of NYC) 🧊 Large hail is possible, but the threat appears more limited due to relatively warm air aloft. ⚡ Storms could evolve into a mix of supercells and bowing lines of thunderstorms, though the exact storm mode remains uncertain.

LETTER: COFFEE IN SHUL: WHY ARE WE SO BUSY WATCHING EVERYONE ELSE?

There has been a lot of discussion lately about bringing coffee into shul. Every shul has a Rav, and every Rav has the right to decide what is appropriate for his shul and what the decorum should be. If a Rav says no coffee, that should obviously be respected. But my broader question is: Why are we so worried about what the person next to us is drinking? If someone walks into shul holding a coffee, why should that disturb my davening? My job is to daven, focus on Hashem, and not spend my time looking around and judging what everyone else is doing. Talking during davening is different. Chazal and the poskim speak strongly about it, and practically, someone talking can directly interfere with another person’s ability to daven and concentrate. But someone quietly drinking a coffee? Even if you personally feel it isn’t appropriate or respectful, why does it have to become everyone else’s concern? And more broadly, it is worth asking why we so often feel the need to point out what others are doing wrong. Even when we are convinced we are right, what is gained by writing about it, commenting on it, or focusing on it? Too often, it shifts our attention away from our own avodah and places it onto someone else’s behavior. Instead of elevating ourselves, it can easily lead to more judgment, more division, and less focus on our own growth. We should also remember that the real work is not to refine other people, but to refine ourselves. We are far more responsible for our own middos, our own kavanah, and our own growth than we are for anyone else’s choices. If we invested the same energy we sometimes spend analyzing others into improving ourselves, we would likely see far greater progress in our own avodas Hashem. Maybe part of proper shul decorum is also learning to focus less on what the person next to us is doing and more on our own davening and on how we can become better ourselves. Let every shul’s Rav set the standards for his shul and let the rest of us concentrate on talking to Hashem and becoming better people ourselves.

LETTER: THE HIDDEN GAMBLING CRISIS IN THE FRUM COMMUNITY

LETTER: THE HIDDEN GAMBLING CRISIS IN THE FRUM COMMUNITY

GAMBLING IN THE FRUM COMMUNITY I wanted to speak publicly about a major issue in our community that many people know exists, yet too often gets pushed under the carpet. People are embarrassed to talk about it. Families hide it. Friends cover for each other. But as someone who has personally seen people lose their savings, their homes, their marriages, and sometimes their entire lives because of gambling, I feel this needs to finally be addressed honestly. We are supposed to be an אור לגויים, a light unto the nations. Yet gambling has quietly become normalized in many circles. What once may have started as a small poker game, a friendly sports bet, or a few scratch-offs has exploded into something much bigger and much darker. Today gambling is everywhere. It’s scratch-offs at convenience stores. It’s lotto tickets where people stand there every day scratching away money they can’t afford to lose. It’s casinos in Atlantic City and Vegas. It’s online gambling apps sitting in everyone’s pocket 24/7. It’s sports betting commercials during every game convincing people they are one big win away from changing their lives. And now with the new age of sports gambling apps, it has become easier than ever to destroy yourself financially without anyone even noticing. Years ago someone had to physically walk into a casino. Today someone can lose thousands of dollars quietly from his couch, in his car, during work, or even during a family simcha. The apps are designed for one purpose: to keep people chasing losses. The system is built so most people lose. Maybe someone wins once or twice in the beginning, but that is often what hooks them. Then comes the chasing. “I’ll make it back.” “One more game.” “One more parlay.” “One more hand.” Before they know it, savings accounts are emptied, credit cards are maxed out, and debts start piling up. And gambling addiction does not stay only in the casino or on the app. Many times it leads people into stealing, scamming, lying, fraud, and Ponzi schemes because they become desperate trying to cover losses or chase money they already lost. People who never imagined they would cross certain lines suddenly justify doing terrible things because they believe one big score will fix everything. We have already seen major scandals in frum communities where gambling and reckless financial behavior were connected behind the scenes. Families destroyed. Investors wiped out. Trust shattered. Communities embarrassed publicly. And usually by the time people realize what is happening, the damage is already massive. Many wives and families have absolutely no idea what is happening. There are frum families struggling to pay tuition, groceries, mortgages, and basic bills while secretly tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars are disappearing into gambling. Some people borrow from friends. Some refinance homes. Some destroy business relationships. Some end up lying constantly to cover up the addiction. The stress and pressure destroy shalom bayis and emotionally crush children who have no clue why their home is falling apart. The saddest part is that many of these people are not bad people. They are regular people who got trapped. Addiction does not care if someone is religious, successful, respected, wealthy, or learned. Gambling addiction grabs people quietly and slowly until they no longer control it. And the community often looks the other way. People are afraid to speak because of shidduchim, embarrassment, image, or fear of what others will say. So instead of dealing with the issue early, it grows in silence until there is a disaster. We need more awareness. We need rabbanim, schools, organizations, and community leaders to speak openly about this issue before more families are destroyed. We need people to understand that gambling addiction is real and dangerous. We need support systems for those trying to get out. We need education for young people who are growing up in a world where gambling is being marketed as entertainment everywhere they turn. Most importantly, we need to stop pretending this problem does not exist in the frum community. Because it does. And for some families, it is destroying everything.
